Ted, FYI (and that of any of the other Brethren) there is a real fraternity called "The Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffalos". My grandfather was "Provincial Grand Primo" (the exact equivalent of a DDGM) in his home district back in England. The "Buffs" as they like to call themselves are known in England as "the poor man's Freemasons" being largely a working man's fraternity. With over 10,000 lodges they are not a small organization though unfortunately declining as it seems all fraternal oranizations are. Whether there is any relationship to Fred Flintstone or not I don't know, but I am researching the links between the "Buffs" and Freemasonry.
